Tour of England The board began to tear down the wall of fear
Before the tour of England, the PCB started tearing down the wall of fear while a campaign was launched to take the cricketers into confidence regarding the series.
England is one of the countries where the spread of Corona virus has spread rapidly, the situation has improved a bit but the shadow of fear still remains, the English Board wants to restore international cricket in a biosecure environment with full precautionary measures. He will start it with a Test series against the West Indies on July 8. Later, Pakistan is also scheduled to host the series. The series will start on August 5. The venues with hotels are also almost decided.
This experience of matches in stadiums without spectators will help the ECB to offset some of the financial loss, encouraging other countries to compete in a bio-secure environment.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had agreed with the ECB officials in a teleconference on May 15 to review the situation in principle for the series. Yesterday, the board briefed the national cricketers about the tour of England.
Chief Executive Wasim Khan and Director International Cricket Zakir Khan briefed the players on the possible plan. Medical panel chief Dr Sohail Saleem and chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq also attended the meeting. The situation was informed in the context of teleconference.
The board assured that no compromise would be made on the health and safety of the players, adding that it was planned to take 25 cricketers to England for Test and T20 matches, which would leave in the first week of July. Players will be there until the end of the tour.
It was further informed that training sessions will be held in Lahore in early June in accordance with the guidelines of the International Cricket Council. Dr Sohail Saleem, Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis will organize training sessions for the players on the principles of hygiene. The CB will also keep the cricketers informed of further discussions with the English Board.
Wasim Khan said that apparently the Pakistan team will have to stay in bio-secure arrangements for the next three months, the players will have the option to withdraw from the tour, more details regarding security measures will be provided in the next few weeks. Zakir Khan said that we are ready to make all arrangements for training in Lahore in these extraordinary circumstances.
