Efforts to end global conflict change US position
According to AFP news agency, the United States has surprised other member states by changing its stance on the UN resolution to prevent worldwide conflicts during the corona virus.
Diplomats told AFP that the UN Security Council wanted to pass the resolution in order to help countries already struggling with the corona virus around the world.
According to AFP, the resolution calls for a halt to conflict in many parts of the world and a 90-day "humanitarian pause" or humanitarian war break so that governments can focus on fighting the corona virus. ۔
After two months of negotiations, the United States has refused to support the draft, according to AFP.
On condition of anonymity, some officials told AFP that the United States had agreed to the draft a day earlier.
According to AFP, when asked for clarification, a State Department official told AFP that China had obstructed any agreement that would allow the Security Council to move forward.
AFP sources say the United States wanted the Security Council to consider a preliminary draft of the resolution, which called for "transparency".
According to a State Department official, in our view, the Council will either move forward with limited support (on the current draft) or bring a resolution that focuses on transparency regarding Code-19.
US President Donald Trump has accused the World Health Organization (WHO) of not taking the spread of the corona virus in China seriously.
