India: Elderly patient tied to bed for non-payment of hospital bill

In the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, an elderly patient was tied to a hospital bed for allegedly failing to pay a hospital bill, but the hospital administration says the patient had a sudden seizure so that he would not harm himself. Deliver
Taking note of the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shoraj Singh Chouhan has promised to take stern action against the hospital in Shajapur.
According to Indian TV channel NDTV, the district hospital has also ordered an inquiry into the matter

The family of the elderly patient has alleged that the hospital administration tied their hands and feet to the bed for non-payment of Rs 11,000.
According to her daughter, "We deposited Rs 5,000 when the father was admitted to the hospital, but when the treatment took a few more days, we did not have the money to pay the extra bill."
A doctor at the hospital said the patient's bill was waived on humanitarian grounds.
Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath tweeted that an elderly patient was treated inhumanely.
