An MI.8 military helicopter made an emergency landing in Chakotka, killing four people

At least four people have been killed after an MI.8 military helicopter made an emergency landing in Russia's eastern Chakotka region.

According to a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the MI.8 military helicopter made an emergency landing during a training flight near Ogolny Kopi Airport in Chakotka.

Speaking to Russia's Tass news agency, a Defense Ministry official said four members of the helicopter crew had been killed and the helicopter caught fire after landing.

The accident is thought to have been caused by a technical glitch.

Last week, three people were killed in an emergency landing of a MI.8 military helicopter in the capital Moscow.
