PM orders to investigate into import of drugs from India

the latest. May 08, 2020: Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an inquiry into the import of medicines from India. Under the guise of life-saving medicines, routine medicines and vitamins have been imported from India. The Prime Minister has directed Shehzad Akbar to investigate. According to media reports, a meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed the import of medicines when a summary of import of 429 more medicines from India was presented.
The summary recommended importing more drugs, including life-saving and multivitamin drugs. During the meeting, when questions were raised on the import of routine medicines and vitamins from India, Special Assistant Zafar Mirza and Health Secretary were left speechless.
They were asked what are the medicines imported from India? Are all medicines life-saving? To which Zafar Mirza said that preparation of the list is not in my knowledge.

In an interview, he appealed to the people to show maturity and responsibility by adhering to the rules and regulations and social distance while easing the lockdown in the country. He appreciated the role of religious scholars in informing the public about the limited number of people visiting mosques during the holy month of Ramadan.
