May 8, 2020) Pakistan and the English Cricket Board will hold formal talks next week regarding a three-Test series in July and August. For the first time, the English Cricket Board has contacted Pakistan and said it wants to come up with a plan for the series. If the PCB has any protection on an issue, it is ready to address it.
PCB chief executive Wasim Khan will review the possibilities of the series on a video link with England and Wales Cricket Board CEO Tom Harrison. Sources said that the Pakistan Cricket Board needs answers to many questions from the host country to protect its players. The English Cricket Board wants the series to be played on two grounds without spectators.
Pakistan has to visit Ireland before going to England. Sources said that the English Cricket Board will present clear guidelines to the PCB after a meeting with its players and government officials. The PCB would like to know how and on what terms the series will take place. The most important for Pakistan will be on health issues. The English Board has held preliminary discussions with its Ministry of Health. Wasim Khan can also seek guidance from the Foreign Ministry on some issues after consulting the ECB. Sources said that the dates of the Test matches will be changed. Earlier, the English Cricket Board would have held talks with the boards of West Indies and Australia.
