Interpol issues red notice to wife of wanted US diplomat

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a red notice for the arrest of Annie Sacolas, the wife of a US diplomat accused of killing a teenager in a car crash in the UK last year. According to US media, Sakolas' husband is an intelligence officer who works at a US military base in central Britain. The United Kingdom's ambassador to Britain, Dominic Robb, was summoned by the British Foreign Office to express his frustration at the government's refusal to accept justice. We feel that this is tantamount to denial of justice and our position is that e Ni Sakolas should return to the UK. We are now urgently considering our options. Red notices are issued to fugitives either for prosecution or for sentencing, Interpol explained on its official website. Across the country, law enforcement agencies are requested to search and arrest a person through extradition, surrender or similar legal action.

On the other  according to local media, the issue of Sakolas has become a thorn in the side of special relations between the United States and the United Kingdom and it has sparked a debate on the limits of diplomatic immunity in matters not related to national security.
