Dr. recovering from plasma therapy died of a heart attack
A 58-year-old doctor in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, who suffered from corona virus and was given plasma therapy, died of a heart attack on Saturday.
He was the first corona virus patient in the Indian state to be treated with plasma therapy.
According to India's TV channel NDTV, the Lucknow hospital administration said in a statement that his condition was improving rapidly after he started treatment and on Saturday he tested negative for the corona virus.
A 58-year-old doctor was admitted to King George Medical University's corona virus ward, the hospital administration said. The condition of his lungs had improved a lot after the therapy.
According to him, Unfortunately, he got an infection in his urinary tract, after which he had to undergo dialysis. His code 19 test was negative and his wife's test was also negative.
MLB Bhatt, vice-chancellor of King George Medical University, said doctors had been on ventilator for the past 14 days.
He was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure and was under the care of doctors in the isolation ward.
According to the news agency PTI, "around 5 pm he had a heart attack and despite all efforts, he could not be saved."
Plasma therapy is an experimental treatment for patients with code 19, in which the plasma of a patient recovering from the corona virus is transferred to a patient infected with the virus.
Antibodies in a healthy patient's blood build up immunity in the sick patient's body to fight the virus.
