Sindh: All schools announced to be closed indefinitely

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has announced that students from class I to VIII across the province will be promoted to the next classes without taking exams. However, the law has been amended for Matric and Intermediate students. There is a need and no consensus has been reached yet.
He said that all schools across the province would remain closed indefinitely.
Talking to media after the meeting of the steering committee of the provincial education department, Saeed Ghani said that not all schools across the province would be reopened from June 1, while the new school reopening date and new academic year schedule would be announced later.


Secretary Education Syed Khalid Haider Shah, Secretary Colleges Baqir Naqvi, members Sindh Assembly, Special Secretary Education, DG Private Schools, officials of all private schools association also participated in the meeting held on Tuesday.
 Tariq Shah, central chairman of the Private Schools and Management Association of Sindh, told Urdu News that he had proposed to conduct examinations for all classes, but the government promoted students in grades one to eight without examinations. Consensus was reached in the association of all schools regarding this.
"It was decided at the meeting that 'all private schools will be independent in formulating procedures for promoting students and each school will decide separately in this regard,'" Tariq Shah said.
The provincial education minister was of the view that "every school has its own procedure, some schools are grading on the basis of homework throughout the year while others conduct quarterly and half-yearly examinations, so it is now the responsibility of schools He has promoted his students by grading them as he understands better.
