Train service resumed in India despite record new cases
India, the world's second-largest country by population and the most affected by Corona in the South Asian region, has partially restored train service, despite 4,200 new cases being reported in a single day.
Lockdown was imposed in India after mid-March to prevent the spread of Corona and there was severe lockdown for the first two weeks, but it was eased after the lockdown was extended.
India had extended the lockdown period for the third time and implemented the lockdown till mid-May. However, in early May, the lockdown was relaxed and many businesses were allowed to open.
In India, liquor stores and other general goods stores were allowed to open from last week and now the government has announced to run 15 trains daily from May 12.
According to the Indian newspaper India Today, from May 12, 15 trains will go from the capital New Delhi to cities in different states of the country and from where these trains will go, the same number of trains will also return to Delhi.
Train ticket bookings began on May 11 as the government announced the resumption of train service.
According to the Indian Express, social distance between the passengers in the trains will be ensured and therefore the management has decided not to book a seat between the two passengers of the train.
Everyone traveling must wear a face mask and carry an extra bag in which they can safely dispose of used items and eventually dispose of them safely.
The use of sanitizers during train service will also be ensured while passengers will be allowed to travel only after initial medical check-up and no one will be allowed to travel due to low fever or mild symptoms.
