US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced support for the World Health Organization's efforts to eradicate polio and other diseases, despite the US withholding World Health Organization funding.

According to the French news agency AFP, Mike Pompeo said in two interviews on Thursday that "President Trump has appreciated the work of the World Health Organization on various issues."

Speaking to radio host Chris Staggal, the secretary of state said: "We are trying to figure out if there is anything left to justify.

The World Health Organization has done a good job on some issues, especially polio and other diseases like that.

Speaking separately from host Jack Heath, Mike Pompeo said, "Let's see in what areas we can continue to work with the World Health Organization because it is doing a good job on polio eradication and some other issues."

Earlier, President Trump threatened to cut off WHO aid on April 14. He accused the World Health Organization (WHO) of blindly supporting China's position on the corona virus and that it had taken "too late" steps to control the virus.

President Trump said, It seems that the World Health Organization is leaning too much towards China, which is not right.

Earlier, he said in a tweet that the World Health Organization's focus was "too much on China".
President Trump had said, Fortunately, I rejected the World Health Organization's proposal to keep US borders open for China.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reacted to US President Donald Trump's announcement to cut funding for the World Health Organization, saying "it is not appropriate to reduce the resources of such organizations in an effort to stop the corona virus."

Remember that Pakistan and Afghanistan are two countries where polio is still endemic and its eradication is an international priority.

Critics say President Trump has blamed the World Health Organization for diverting public attention from coronavirus deaths in the United States.

About 1.257 million people have been infected with the corona virus in the United States so far, while 75,670 people have died, more than any other country in the world.
