If an attempt is made to veto sanctions on Iran, the United States will resort to other means: Hook
If the Security Council does not renew the international arms embargo on Iran, the sanctions mechanism in the nuclear deal will be activated: Brian Hook
Brian Hook, the US special envoy to Iran, has threatened to activate the sanctions mechanism included in the nuclear deal if the UN Security Council does not renew the international arms embargo on Iran.
Hook said in a column for the Wall Street Journal that the 13-year arms embargo imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council would end in October as part of the 2015 nuclear deal. ۔ The lifting of the embargo would allow Iran to import and export warplanes, submarines and guided missiles, the world's leading terrorist government.
He said the United States would use diplomatic pressure and seek cooperation to extend the embargo. We have drafted a bill and hope it will be passed by the UN Security Council.
He says Russia and China could use the vote in favor of the bill to benefit more from stabilizing the Middle East rather than selling arms to Iran for religious wars. If a veto were used to block US diplomacy, the United States would reserve the right to renew the arms embargo in other ways.
Brian Hook said that Article 2231, which favors the nuclear deal, although repealed several UN Security Council sanctions on Iran, also created a legal mechanism for re-imposing those sanctions. Within 10 years, sanctions could be re-imposed if Iran violates the agreement, without the need for the UN Security Council.
