China-India border tensions: China rejects US President Donald Trump's offer of mediation

The Chinese government has reacted to US President Donald Trump's offer of mediation to resolve rising tensions between India and China.

According to Chinese state media, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said that China and India have the full capacity to resolve their disputes through dialogue and both have a reasonable system of resolving the issue through dialogue.

According to a report in the official newspaper Global Times, China has turned down an offer of US mediation to reduce tensions with India. The newspaper writes that both the countries do not need such help from President Trump.

At the same time, it writes that both countries should be wary of the United States, which seeks opportunities to undermine peace and brotherhood in the region.

US President Donald Trump has twice offered to mediate on ongoing border tensions between India and China.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the US President said in response to a question from an Indian journalist, "I like your Prime Minister very much. He is a good man. There is a big confrontation between India and China. Both are densely populated countries. Both have powerful armies. India is not happy and maybe China is not happy either. I talked to Prime Minister Modi and whatever is going on with China, he is not in the right mood.

That said, Trump offered to mediate between the two countries. "I can do anything to help, I'm ready," he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Trump took to Twitter to offer mediation between the two countries.
