THIS city may become India’s Wuhan Could see 8,00,000 coronavirus cases

If this situation continues, Ahmedabad will suffer a fate similar to the city of Wuhan in China - the epicenter and starting point of the global coronavirus epidemic.

The coronavirus infection is spreading very fast in Ahmedabad, the capital of  Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat.
If this situation continues, Ahmedabad will suffer a fate similar to the city of Wuhan in China .the epicenter and starting point of the global coronavirus epidemic.

This apprehension has been expressed by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner  Nehra.

Nehra fears that by the end of May, more than eight million patients may be suffering from coronavirus in Ahmedabad.

Right now, the number of coronavirus patients in Ahmedabad are doubling every four days.

Nehra said in a video message that out of the total number of coronavirus patients in the city, 1,459 are still infected and 75 patients have died while the health condition of 105 others have improved.

“Currently, the rate of doubling of cases in Ahmedabad is four days, which means that cases are doubling every four days. If this continues, we will have 50,000 cases by May 15 and about eight lakhs by May 31,” Nehra said.

“Our aim is to reduce this rate to eight days. This will be an extremely difficult task as few countries have achieved this. If we can reduce the doubling rate to eight days, by May 15, we will have only 10,000 cases as against 50,000,” he added.

“Similarly, by May 30, this number will be reduced to 50,000, contrary to the estimate of eight lakh cases. The way the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is taking steps, we are confident that with the help of the public we will achieve this goal.
